The Relationship Agency Opens New Ajax Location: Expert Couples Therapy, Trauma Therapy, and Family Counselling Now Closer to Home

We're thrilled to announce that The Relationship Agency has officially opened our second location in Ajax, Ontario. Our new office at 62 Harwood Ave South brings expert couples therapy, trauma therapy, and family counselling to Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, and the surrounding Durham Region communities.

If you've been searching for a therapist in Ajax who truly understands relationships—whether with your partner, your children, or yourself—you've found us.

Why We Chose Ajax

This location feels like coming home. Michelle, our founder, lived with her family in Ajax for 10 years during high school and still has family here. We didn't just pick Ajax off a map—we chose it because we know this community, we love this community, and we wanted to serve it.

Ajax families are busy. Many residents commute to downtown Toronto for work and come back to raise their families in a community that offers space, culture, and connection. We understand that juggling careers, kids, and relationships is exhausting—and that when cracks appear in your relationship or family life, you need support that's convenient and accessible.

Our Ajax office is designed to serve you where you are. Whether you're a long-time Ajax resident, a newcomer to Canada building your life here, or a first-generation Canadian navigating the unique challenges of blending cultures and expectations, we're here for you.

Our Story: How The Relationship Agency Began

The Relationship Agency was founded in February 2022 with a simple but profound belief: relationships are everything. Every struggle you face—whether it's anxiety at work, worry about your parenting, feeling stuck in your career, or grief over losing someone you love—has a relationship at its core.

Michelle, our founder, started The Relationship Agency after her own transformative experience with therapy. Years ago, she was stuck in painful relationship patterns, feeling disconnected and unsure how to break the cycle. Learning about attachment theory, emotional regulation, and self-compassion didn't just change her relationships—it changed her entire life.

That's why she built a team of therapists who, like her, have done their own healing work and understand what it's like to feel lost, overwhelmed, or disconnected. We don't hand out generic advice. We use proven clinical methods based in attachment theory, neuroscience, and trauma-informed care to help you understand your patterns, heal old wounds, and create the relationships you deserve.

We started in Oshawa with a focus on couples therapy and nervous system regulation. As our practice grew, we realized that to truly serve the whole person and the whole family, we needed to expand our services and our reach. In 2025, we opened our Ajax location to bring specialized therapy—including EMDR trauma therapy—to more people in Durham Region.

Therapy Services at Our Ajax Office

Our Ajax location offers the full range of therapy services that have made The Relationship Agency a trusted name in Durham Region:

Couples Therapy and Marriage Counselling Ajax

Is your relationship stuck in the same arguments? Feeling disconnected from your partner? Our specialized couples counselling helps partners move from conflict to connection using proven methods like PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and the Gottman Method. Whether you're navigating communication breakdowns, rebuilding trust after infidelity, preparing for marriage with premarital therapy, or considering whether to stay together, we're here to help.

LGBTQ+ Therapy and Queer Couples Therapy Ajax

Finding a therapist who truly understands your experience shouldn't be hard. The Relationship Agency provides LGBTQ+ affirming therapy for individuals and couples navigating identity, coming out, relationship dynamics, and the unique stressors that queer folks face. Our queer couples therapy supports same-sex couples, non-binary partners, and all relationship structures with the same evidence-based approaches we use with every couple—no assumptions, no judgment, just expert care that honours who you are.

Black Therapists and Black Couples Therapy Ajax

Representation matters in therapy. Our team includes Black therapists who understand the unique experiences, cultural contexts, and systemic pressures that Black individuals and couples face. Whether you're dealing with relationship challenges, intergenerational trauma, the stress of navigating predominantly white spaces, or simply want a therapist who gets it without needing everything explained, our Black couples therapy and individual services are here for you. You deserve culturally responsive care from someone who understands your lived experience.

Trauma Therapy and EMDR Ajax

Our Ajax office is home to Dee Martin, a Registered Social Worker who specializes in trauma therapy using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Dee helps individuals heal from PTSD, complex trauma, childhood wounds, and attachment injuries. If past experiences keep showing up in your present—in your relationships, your anxiety, your sense of self—trauma therapy can help you finally move forward.

Child, Teen, and Family Therapy Ajax

Parenting is hard. When your child is struggling with anxiety, big emotions, or behavior challenges, the whole family feels it. Our child therapists work with kids ages 5-15 and their families to reduce conflict, improve communication, and build the peaceful family life you deserve. We also offer teen therapy for adolescents navigating the unique pressures of growing up.

Individual Therapy Ajax

Sometimes the most important relationship to work on is the one you have with yourself. Our individual therapy services support you through anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and personal growth. Whether you're healing from a difficult breakup, navigating a divorce, or simply trying to understand why you keep repeating the same patterns, we're here.

Virtual Therapy Across Ontario

Can't make it to our Ajax or Oshawa offices? We offer secure virtual therapy for Ontario residents, so you can access expert care from the comfort of your home. Many of our clients choose a mix of in-person and virtual sessions depending on their schedule.

About Our Ajax Office

Our new Ajax therapy office is located at 62 Harwood Ave South—a convenient, comfortable space designed to help you feel at ease from the moment you walk in.

A Space Designed for Comfort

We know that coming to therapy can feel vulnerable, so we've created a space that feels warm and welcoming—not clinical. Our waiting room is designed to help you settle in before your session, with comfortable seating, a lending library of books on relationships, attachment, and personal growth, and complimentary coffee and snacks to help you feel at home.

And most importantly, we keep the fridge stocked with Diet Coke.

Easy to Find, Free Parking

We're just minutes from Highway 401, making the office easily accessible whether you're coming from Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, or even Scarborough. Free parking is available on-site, so you won't have to worry about meters, paying for parking, or circling the block looking for a spot. Just pull in, park, and focus on what matters—your session.

A Neighbourhood You Know

Our Ajax office sits in a vibrant, convenient neighbourhood. Coyote Jack's is right next door—perfect for breakfast or brunch after a morning session. Other nearby spots include Rotilicious, Choco Moko (a local gluten-free bakery), Mexico Lindo, and BanBan Korean Fried Chicken. You'll also find Goldie's Cafe and Tim Hortons nearby for coffee, plus Shoppers Drug Mart, Dollarama, and Food Basics all on the same stretch.

For couples doing therapy together, we always recommend turning your session into a date. Grab lunch or dinner nearby after your appointment and keep the conversation going.

Meet Our Team

The therapists at The Relationship Agency are Registered Social Workers (RSW) with specialized training in couples therapy, trauma therapy, and family counselling. We're trained in evidence-based approaches including PACT, Emotion Focused Therapy, the Gottman Method, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

Our team is diverse, and that's intentional. We believe everyone deserves a therapist who understands their experience—whether that means working with a Black therapist, an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist, or someone who shares your cultural background. When you book your free consultation, we'll match you with a therapist who's the right fit for your unique needs.

What makes us different? Every therapist on our team has walked their own healing journey. We know what it's like to struggle with relationships, anxiety, trauma, and personal growth. We meet you with genuine empathy, not judgment—because we understand the courage it takes to ask for help.

We're Part of the Ajax Community

We're not just treating clients—we're serving our neighbours. Our therapists live and work in Durham Region, in communities like Pickering, Ajax, and Oshawa. We understand the unique pressures facing families here: the long commutes, the cost of living, the challenge of raising kids while building careers.

Many of our Ajax clients come to us through referrals from other therapists who know we're specialists. Others find us through Google when they're searching for help. However you found us, we're honoured to be part of your journey.

What to Expect When You Visit

Your first step is booking a free 20-minute consultation. During this call, you'll share what's going on and what you're hoping to achieve. We'll listen without judgment and help you understand how therapy can support your goals.

From there, we'll match you with the right therapist for your needs—usually within 24-48 hours. Whether you need couples therapy, LGBTQ+ affirming therapy, trauma therapy, child therapy, or individual support, we'll find the perfect fit.

Individual sessions are 50 minutes and cost $175, couples sessions are 75 minutes and cost $275. We also offer extended individual therapy and couples therapy intensives. Our RSW therapists are typically covered under psychotherapy benefits, so check your insurance plan. We offer day, evening, and weekend appointments to fit your schedule, and we accept all major credit cards and e-transfer.
